Not practicing good oral hygiene habits and getting routine cleanings and checkups can mean the underlying teeth are at risk of decay. And, the decay may not be immediately visible because the veneer is in place. Therefore, the best candidates are those that do not struggle to take good care of their oral health. 

Are you comfortable with the price of veneers?

Dental veneers are a bit more costly than some cosmetic dental treatments, but they are not the most expensive compared to others like dental implants. The cost can be anywhere from $400 to $2,500 per veneer. Therefore, if you plan to have several teeth covered with a veneer, there can be a sizable cost. In some cases, private dental insurance will allow a set amount for cosmetic procedures, but the treatments are not usually covered by standard dental insurance. 

Do you have problems with smile alignment?

Dental veneers do not correct major issues with smile alignment. At best, veneers can even out slight alignment imperfections. For example, if one of your teeth is slightly shorter than the next, a veneer can make that specific tooth look slightly larger. In a lot of situations, it is best to opt for alignment treatment before having veneers installed if the bite is severely misshapen.
