What To Do If At-Home Teeth Whitening Isn't Working

Posted on

If you are like many people who are unhappy with the shade of your teeth, you might have already tried some at-home treatments. There are natural treatments that use things like baking soda, and there are also a ton of drugstore products that you can try. Even though some people do see results from these options, you might not have seen the improvement that you were hoping for. If this is the case, you might think that you'll have to give up on the idea of whitening your teeth. However, there are still a ton of options that you can look into. These are three things that you can try so that you can achieve beautiful white teeth:

Get Your Teeth Professionally Whitened

First of all, if you haven't tried it yet, you should know that having your teeth whitened professionally can work a whole lot better than trying to do it yourself. Your dentist has products that you can't buy yourself, and he or she has the experience that you probably just don't have. This means that you probably shouldn't give up on teeth whitening just yet; instead, consider going to see your dentist and asking about professional whitening to see if it will work better than the techniques and products that you have tried.

Consider Dental Bonding

Dental bonding compound is used for things like repairing cracks and other damage to the teeth. What some people don't know, however, is that it can be used for purely cosmetic reasons as well. Your dentist may be able to add a very thin layer of dental bonding compound on the outside of your teeth. Even though this won't technically whiten your teeth, it can cover up the discoloration and make them look much whiter when you smile.

Look Into Dental Implants

If some of your teeth are severely discolored, they might actually be severely damaged. If this is the case, having them pulled and replaced with dental implants might be an option. Of course, this is not something that you will want to take lightly. If you talk to your dentist, however, he or she can help you determine if this is a good option for you.

As you can see, you do have options if your at-home teeth whitening isn't working. If you have been doing what you can to try to make your teeth look better but if you haven't been getting results yourself, even if you have tried multiple drugstore products, consider trying one of these options. Your dentist may also be able to talk to you about other options that can help you achieve pearly white teeth.
