2 Natural Antibacterial Mouthwashes To Prevent Pulpitis From Forming

Posted on

Pulpitis occurs when your dental pulp becomes inflamed. The inflammation is usually caused by extreme tooth decay and a bacterial infection that is left untreated. Early signs of pulpitis include anything from tooth sensitivity caused by extreme temperatures to a dull ache or pain. It is important to be mindful of these signs in order to prevent the health of your teeth from deteriorating. Teeth that suffer from pulpitis will often need to undergo extensive dental work in order to remove the decayed dental pulp and seal off the dental pulp chamber. An easy way to prevent pulpitis from forming is by solidifying your dental care routine. Fortunately, there are few mouthwashes that you can use in order to do this.

Red Root Mouthwash

Red root is routinely included in oral rinses and mouthwash because it is considered to be a natural astringent. The herb cleanses sites of bacterial infections and helps to promote healing in these areas. The herb is great to use if you are experiencing early signs of pulpitis. You can find a decoction of red root in your local health food store. Place at least five drops of the decoction inside of a cup and fill the cup with hot water. Stir the mixture and add a slice of lemon to it for freshness. Wait for it to cool and use the rinse to clean your teeth and gums. Focus on your gum line and the grooves of your teeth. This is where bacteria and food can easily seep into your dental pulp. Keep the rinse in your mouth for several minutes before spitting.

Thyme Mouthwash

Thyme is often classified as a multipurpose herb because it can be used as an ingredient in mouthwashes. The herb contains antibacterials that make it extremely effective in keeping contaminated areas clear of bacteria. An easy-to-use thyme rinse can be created by taking a handful of the fresh herb and placing it in a pot of boiling water. Move the pot from the stove and allow the thyme to steep overnight. The next morning, you should be able to smell the thyme from a few feet away. Use the rinse after brushing your teeth to cleanse your entire mouth. Work it through the grooves and crevices of your teeth where bacteria notoriously buildup.

Pulpitis can leave your teeth extremely damaged. Therefore, use these mouthwashes to fight off the dental disease before it has a chance to fully form. For more help dealing with pulpitis, contact a general dentistry clinic.
