4 Dental Methods For Restoring Your Teeth

Posted on

If you suffer from tooth loss or decay, you will want to work diligently to restore your teeth. Doing so can ensure you have good dental health that may provide you with a lifetime of service. It's ideal to know the varying methods for tooth restoration to help you stay informed if any of these are necessary for you.

Method #1: Dental Fillings

One of the least complex ways to restore your teeth and get rid of decay is with fillings. This process will require the dentist to remove the decay and use a composite material, such as gold, anagram or porcelain to restore the tooth.

There are varying levels of decay and your dentist will identify the extent of yours and assign a number from one to six to it. The lower the number, the smaller your cavity will be. This will be less complex to fill and will cost you less to do so.

Method #2: Dental Crowns

If you have an extensive amount of decay, you may need to get a crown. This is typically a two-step process. The first step involves your dentist removing any decay you may have and taking an impression of your tooth.

The final step is when you will be called back into the dentist office and will have the new crown put into place. There may be some needed adjustments made to ensure the proper bite.

Method #3:  Dental Bridges

If you are missing one or more teeth, you may want to consider getting a dental bridge. This consists of having an impression made and dental crowns created that will adjoin to fill in the gap where your teeth are missing.

This process will usually require two visits to the dental office, and the costs will depend on the number of teeth you need to have replaced.

Method #4: Dentures

Restoring several teeth may require dentures. This will consist of having teeth that are fabricated and that fit perfectly in your mouth. This process will involve having an impression of your entire mouth made and getting dentures made by a dental lab.

The benefits of dentures include being able to eat better and to feel more confident about your appearance.

Be sure to take the time to talk to your dental provider today about the best way to restore your teeth when necessary. Doing so can significantly improve your long-term dental health.
