3 All-Natural Remedies For Gingivitis
Gingivitis often manifests itself with gums that are red, sore, and inflamed. Sometimes gums that are affected by gingivitis also have a tendency to bleed.
Not only can gingivitis be quite painful at times but it can also very unsightly to look at as well. This can cause people that suffer from gum disease to feel self self-conscious about their appearance. Fortunately, there are many different all-natural remedies that can be utilized in order to restore your gums back to being in excellent condition and to get them looking nice and healthy again.
1. Drink Some Cranberry Juice
Drinking cranberry juice is an excellent way to eliminate your gingivitis problems. The reason for this is that cranberry juice contains anti-bacterial properties. Drinking one glass a day should do the trick to help get rid of your gingivitis. However, you should make sure that you drink only unsweetened cranberry juice, as the juice with sugar added to it will most likely just make your gingivitis symptoms even worse.
2. Increase Your Vitamin C Intake
Having a vitamin C deficiency has been known to cause gum disease. Therefore, increasing your Vitamin C intake is a great way to help cure gingivitis. Lemons, oranges, cabbages, and broccoli are all foods that are rich in Vitamin C. However, if your not a big fan of any of those foods than it's perfectly fine to take a daily vitamin C supplement instead.
3. Do A Saline Rinse
Rinsing with saline water, which is otherwise known as salt water, tends to work really well to prevent and sometimes even reverse gingivitis symptoms. Saline solutions help to prevent the growth of bacteria in your mouth. Using a saline rinse is quick and easy. All you need to do is add approximately 1/2 a teaspoon of salt to a glass full of lukewarm water.
Next, gargle with this solution for anywhere between 10 and 30 seconds right after you finish brushing your teeth. Try not to swallow any of the saline solution, because it typically doesn't taste very good. However, the antibacterial and antiseptic properties that salt contains tend to make it an effective way to treat gingivitis.
There's no doubt that gingivitis can be really unpleasant to have to deal with. Luckily, trying even just one or two of these tips should help make things much easier for you.
